Drowning Erin by Elizabeth O'Roark
3.0
3/5*
This is a story about Brendan and Erin - a girl who's about to marry Rob - Brendan's best friend.
I feel like this book has almost no plot at all. We just get to see Erin with Rob, Rob getting away for work, Erin getting together with Brendan, splitting and getting back with Rob and then happy ending. I liked the first part of the book - until Rob left to Europe and Erin get together with Brendan. Then we have just a huge part of book being solely about them both being together and spending time together. I get that there are some things tackled in the meantime but it felt like not enough.
The main flaw of this book is Erin and Brendan - I didn't like either of them. Brendan for the most of the book was terrible for Erin, he treated her poorly. He was with her and then he did something bad - like ignoring her at a party or not wanting to take her out. There were times when I hated him (and I know it was because Brendan was blaming himself for what happened with Gabi but imo it's hardly an excuse). He was bad to Erin and I was quite a few times I was expecting her to dump him, but she was taking him back every single time. And that's the second thing - Erin was kind of stupid imo. She let Brendan treat her badly just like she let Rob treat her badly before. And then, when Rob came back, she got back with him - why? There was no reason for her to, maybe apart from her fear to be single first time in four years. Actually, there was a moment I actually hoped she would end up with Rob (which obviously couldn't happen in a romance) or completely alone, not with Brendan. Plus, Erin was a totally different person than she was in the first book in the series and I definitely preferred her in "Waking Olivia".
3* because the beginning of the book and the ending were ok. The rest was kind of boring - but I got through it 'cause I'm not the best with DNFing my reads.
