Origins: The Fire by Debra Driza

3.0

I mean, this one was a quickie. A free short story available online. It was one of the shortest companion pieces for YA books that I’ve read. It sets the scene of the fire that took away Mila’s father and is the reason that Mila and her mother are living where they are at the beginning of Mila 2.0. This story was okay. I was hoping for more back story, more about Mila or her mother or some history and origins. Instead, all I got was a fire, and a glimpse of Mila’s attachment to her father. I definitely wanted more from this.
