Fever Moon: The Fear Dorcha by David Lawrence, Karen Marie Moning, Al Rio, Cliff Richards
2.0
I had this book on my Christmas wishlist for several years before I got it, and then it sat in my house for several more years before I read it. Many years. I'm just not a graphic novel person, but I think more than that, I am specifically not a fan of this one. So sorry because I know KMM loved this and the artist and all of the things, but... it doesn't fit the characters or the feelings I have about the series (which I have always loved.) Mac is drawn like a warrior porn queen, which isn't at all how I have been picturing her. Innocent girl to strong woman, YES, but her portrayal is just too much. Same with Barrons--he is such a fascinating character is because you never know quite what he's thinking, but you do know that he's not really ONLY a badass jerk. He is condensed into just his rougher side here. Yes, he shows that he is willing to do a big thing for Mac because she cares a lot about something, but it's not like he was going to do something he didn't already want to do, so the impact is not great enough to soften the effect. Writing it out, I guess I am saying that I didn't like this because they were caricatures of themselves--just MORE of everything, to get their personalities across in images. Maybe that would have worked for me if I hadn't read the series previously.
Still. I'm leaving it as 2 stars because, as always, the world/story is great. I enjoyed the section with the Unseelie King and his mortal lover, and there were bits here and there that were fun to see.
