Candide
by Voltaire
A satire about the naive Candide (who initially believes he lives in the best world) who experiences misfortune and misadventure on his travels and eventually concludes we don't actually live in the best world. What I got out of it is: philosophical thinking is useless and even harmful; we should instead "cultivate own garden" and just practically create a life that's best for us.
