This was in some way a really hard read because of the blatant racism and homophobia. It does not paint a very flattering picture of small town America. Overall, the story was well crafted with multiple POVs. There was one point, maybe 1/3 in, where I felt like the "all these characters have secrets but it isn't time to reveal them yet so I'm just going to allude to a secret at the end of the chapter" felt a little bit clumsy. However, the book recovered and had a satisfying conclusion.
