I understand that this work must be analyzed taking its historical context into account. But I must say that showing that a black person is, indeed, a person by making him appear as European as possible and still reducing the rest of the black characters (except for Imoinda) to beasts and without really criticizing the institution of slavery is... well, it is a start, but oh god the nonsense that white people used to think (and some still do, apparently)!

Anyway, coherent reviews? I don't know her.
