Queen's Shadow by E.K. Johnston
4.0

I love Padmé. She was always my favourite characters in the prequels and I love how EK Johnston brought her spirit to life once more in this YA novel. Starting from the last day of Queen Amidala and continuing on for the next year of Senator Amidala's life, we get a unique insight into the minds of two really strong women. Padmé of course, is at the forefront of the story, but beside her is Sabé, the decoy which stood in for her during the Occupation of Naboo. Sabé is sent on an anti-slavery mission and later, a fact finding quest in the lower levels of Courasant, while Padmé tries to stand out from the memory of her first visit to the senate. There she meets people who become friends, and some who become alienated from her, and along the way she discovers what it is that she wants to do with her life now that she is out of the shadow of the Queen.
