The Boy I Once Hated by C.R. Jane
5.0

Intense. Anger. Sadness. Angst. Delight. Are all emotions I experienced and more while reading this. This forbidden romance was rough and raw but oh so good!

Noah is going through a really rough time. He's watching his mother slowly dying of cancer and there's nothing he can do. His father is in his own world and Noah feels alone in this. When his mother passes he feels even more alone, hurt and angry. Now its almost a year later and his father has asked him to meet him at a local restaurant for a nice lunch to meet someone. Little did he know before he arrived that his dad's new girlfriend was HIS MOTHER"S NURSE!! The feeling of anger and betrayal doesn't even come close. And even worse his dad proposed and now she's moving in with her 2 teenage daughters.

Skyler is your typical shy student. She doesn't really have a voice and just wants to keep to herself. She is an aspiring author but to afraid to show anyone her work. But now moving to a new place and attending a new school without knowing anyone besides her sister and her new stepbrother she's even more scared and folding in on herself. She's just trying to make it through high school so she can leave this place behind her. If it was only that simple. Because Noah is angry he is destined to destroy her and humiliate her any way he can. And damn does he do that. My heart breaks for her but deep down she can't help the way she feels for him. And neither can he but he rather have her hate him then admit his feelings.

The push and pull between these two was intense. The lengths that Noah goes to are unbelievable. So much that I hated him! But will true love prevail? Can this forbidden romance be something real?

I loved each and every single character. Daisy (Sky's sister) is a feisty independent woman with zero filter. I would love to see a spin off series of her! But even the role Kyle plays is incredible. I do love the little note about Sky's book and Daisy's comment on it in the beginning. Makes it seem like it was foreshadowing this book almost. Thank you Ivy for an ARC copy of this amazing book. I really do hope that if it's meant to be it will be. And true love will come back to you if you let it go for the next book because damn that ending.
