The Secret History by Donna Tartt

5.0

staring at the wall, agape, don't know what to do with myself after reading this. a MUST-READ for dark academia lovers. i've been putting off reading this for YEARS because i figured it was going to take me so long to read. surprise! i read this in less than a week.

i absolutely adore a book that has an ambiguous ending, that makes the reader put together the pieces of what the characters are internally dealing with and are destined to go through beyond the last page. this really makes you look internally to what morality is. all of these characters are awful, but (admittedly i am empathetic to a fault) i still was heartbroken by so many of their endings/demises.

i was also pleasantly surprised how much i was able to keep up with the language and texts mentioned. i'd even read some of the texts! of course i exhausted google across so many pages because ms donna tartt is apparently a walking dictionary.
