I have come to the conclusion that this is just like trash TV but as a book. I don’t agree with a lot of things that the characters do and in real life I would hate them but in a book it is entertaining.
I am still on the fence with Aiden. We did get some more insight in his pov. But I wish he had some kind of self control. The „Touch her and die“ in a non fantasy book (actually even in a fantasy book) is so cringe I can’t. The funniest thing is that they are 18 years old but act like the most powerful mafia people in the world. He uses sex as something to punish her or use her and sometimes I am unsure whether she likes it or not and I hate that. The deal about him telling her the story about his past but he feeds her those little crumbs and will only tell her in exchange with sex… hate that. Also, it was so obvious that the two best friends are their fathers.
But the plot is plotting. We finally know what Elsa’s flashbacks are and what she forgot and Aiden’s trauma…. It doesn’t make everything he did forgotten but it explains it. I love those dark and very twisted backstories that make those Charakters. The scene at the lake in the end? I loved it. It was peak entertainment.
