Wow this book was exactly what I needed. This was whimsical, emotional, funny and heartfelt. The writing and dialogue was so unique and well written. The chemistry between all of the characters was perfect.
I really enjoyed how the story was layed out and loved the storyteller interludes. The world itself has that childlike aspect to it but it all just works so well. For me reading fantasy is for an escape and this book showcases that. The main characters went through hardships at a young age but had an outlet for their creativity and a way to escape. The amount of times I cried while reading the last hundred pages was insane. This book is so emotional and when you think you’re done it hits you with something else.
I also don’t normally enjoy pop culture references but this book does a great job of including them. I had Stevie Nicks stuck in my head all day.
This book was just a phenomenal read. It was very entertaining and really well written. Within the first 100 pages I knew I was going to love this one and I’m so happy I was right.
