These Violent Delights is a 5/5 ✨ in the YA Fantasy department for me. It is my most recent obsession and I am going to make it everyone’s problem.
I’m going to review without spoilers because I feel like this is a book you NEED to read.
It’s a 1920’s set in Shanghai retelling of Romeo and Juliette and it is truly addicting. There’s knife to throat, there’s banters, there’s heart break, there is LGBTQ representation, gangs, family, and monsters. This was so much more than what I initially anticipated.
The writing takes you there, I was captivated from the very beginning trying to piece together everything I could.
I can’t wait to get my hands on whatever Ms. Gong puts out next.
