The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo

2.0

I never write reviews but I almost can’t help myself here. Lucy is the most insufferable protagonist I’ve ever read. There was not a single point in this book where I rooted for her. I almost gave up on this book more than once. If you are with someone for 8+ years and you’re still thinking about your ex/ you’re not over your ex… I do not care you’re a bad person. There were so many times in this book where all I can think is ‘why do you still answer your ex’s calls/messages. You’re married. You have kids. And you can’t get over a year long relationship that happened years ago???’ If on my wedding day I thought only of my ex I wouldn’t get married. Don’t get me wrong there were things that her husband did that annoyed me/pissed me off too but a lot of their problems could have been solved if she just talked about her feelings… but no she wanted to just blame him for not being how Gabe would be… she wanted to know what it would be like if her family was with Gabe instead? Babe he would have left. He wouldn’t be around because he put himself before you over and over again and he probably would have done the same to your kids.
