The reality is that I started by more or less enjoying this. I would wholeheartedly say that I love Izzy. Izzy is great. Love her. Iโm all for following the struggles of a Black woman in publishing trying to make it in an industry that is hostile to Black women.
But Beau Towers? ๐ฉ This man was driving me up the wall. One second I hated him and the next I liked him. I felt like I was trapped in an abusive cycle. Heโd say some horrible shit but then show his soft side, and I was ready to love him again. I cannot.
I also cannot with the complete lack of smut in here. I had no idea this was a clean romance when I bought it, and it was a Big Mistake to not have read reviews to figure this out. Truly upsetting. I was bamboozled. I simply am not a clean romance girly. Love that for the ones who love it, but I abhor it.
So, there you have it. 2๐ for the lack of smut, my conflict with Beau, and my struggle convincing myself to pick up the audiobook.
