i really badly wanted to love this after the wait and how much i adored powerless, so i hate to give it anything less than 5. but this was so underwhelming for me, the first half of the book had me hooked, well paced and interesting and Lauren’s writing is undeniably great - but the plot was lacking substance and despite how much i love the characters i just couldn’t bring myself to care after the same repeated incidents and conversations repeatedly.

this felt like a filler book that could have been a lot shorter but was fleshed out so it could end with the plot twist, which was also just boring and nonsensical imo.

:( i still love the characters and am excited for the next one though!
