Chapter House Dune by Frank Herbert

slow-paced

3.0

This one took ages to start. Felt like nothing happened for 200 pages, just lots of chat about "ooh we're Bene Gesserit aren't we secretive"

Quite a few plot threads that didn't really go anywhere/weren't satisfying. In a series where the BG/the Atreides family manipulate religion for 10,000 years how could Judaism/any modern religion still possibly survive? Feels very out of place with the content of the last 5 books. And why were the secret space Jews in the book to begin with? They didn't really add anything to the book, they just hid in a hole for the whole book, was just a bit weird. And the honoured matres are bad because they're too good at sex but when the BGs imprint that's fine? Weird

Having read them all I'd honestly just stop after Dune Messiah (I did like children but found the whole leto thing in general a bit disappointing)
