Broken Whispers
by Neva Altaj
In Broken Whispers, we see Mikhail, the brutal enforcer of the Bratva, meet his match in Bianca, daughter of an Italian capo and a just-retired ballerina.
The two couldn't be more different at first glance, but soon we find that Bianca is tougher than she seems and Mikhail is kinder and more thoughtful with her than she imagined. She makes it clear that she will not spy for her abusive father and will not put up with her family's garbage. Mikhail is covered in scars, literally and figuratively, and tries to keep Bianca at arm's length, but her feelings for him grow as he becomes protective of her and as she sees how he is with his little daughter Lena.
It is heartwarming to see these two slowly give in to their feelings for each other - the chemistry and spice are off the charts, but you get substance as well as style in these books, and the character growth is believable. I love these books and am on to the next one!
