Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance; The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream by Barack Obama

5.0

This book was quite good. It shows a fledgling politician before he became a well oiled machine. The effects of his father having left his family on its own is shown to have a outsized effect on Obama's life. It's interesting to see in how many ways that Obama's life could have changed in small ways that would have turned him from the heights he eventually reached. His conclusions don't quite have a strong ending point or call to action which I found interesting. He's simply telling a story and not trying to convince or badger the reader.
