The gorgeous cover drew me in and the fact that it was only 207 pages. I needed a quick, easy read and it was certainly that.

Christi King loses her job in London and her flat floods, making it unhabitable. So she takes the invitation of her aunt Olivia to stay and work at her Devon campsite for the summer, where she meets Oscar and promptly falls in love with him.

This is all very sweet and cuddly - what I didn't like was how rock bottom Christi's self-esteem was. She constantly thought of herself as a failure even when she turned the fortunes of the campsite around. One small setback, and self-doubts set in. This was all to do with her over the top disapproving parents. Seriously, they were so bad that they were caricatures. Surely no parents are like that? The story would have worked just as well if Christi had been well-adjusted in my opinion.

Still, it was a quick fluffy beach read without too many complications, and the second novel is neatly set up by introducing Ivy.
