Sophie Barrett loves her job at the Delphi Center working with the Tracers, but she wants to be more than just a mere receptionist. Taking classes might help her chances for promotion, but when she is signing up for a class at the local university, there is a sniper shooting at students on campus. Detective Jonah Macon has already saved Sophie's life once before, but when his police unit is called in to stop the sniper, he discovers that Sophie is right in the center of danger once again. Is this sniper working alone, or is there a larger conspiracy at work? Sophie may hold the key if only someone will believe her.
The story involving the sniper and the conspiracy is well developed in this book. The character of Sophie is irreverent and sarcastic, which makes reading about her a lot of fun; however, there is so much more to her that could have been explored. Sophie is clearly experiencing symptoms of PTSD due to her kidnapping in the previous book in this series, but even though it is mentioned that she should seek counseling, that part of her character is never really explored - an opportunity missed. Overall, however, this is another good story in the Tracers Series.
