Notable Quote:
“I had a distinct feeling that I would be doing a lot of following after this girl. Still, my feet moved after her.”

Brief Summary:
Plagued by an abusive father, an indifferent mother, and an absent older brother, Joey Lynch begins to crumble under the responsibility of raising his four younger siblings. In an effort to dull the pain of his home life, Joey turns to drugs…until Aoife Molloy, the only girl he’s ever loved, makes him want to be better.

The Praise:
I thought I loved Johnny and Shannon (and I do!) but Joey quickly took the top spot in my heart. I thought I had an idea of everything Joey was going through from Shannon’s books, but those just scratched the surface. Saving 6 helped me understand some of Joey’s actions in Keeping 13 that I had questioned initially. This book was just so heart-wrenching but still full of sweet, funny moments. It warmed my heart seeing just how much Joey loved his siblings and how much they adored him right back. I also really loved Aoife; she’s so funny and self-assured and was the perfect complement to Joey’s sarcastic and pessimistic personality.

The Critique:
My only critique of any of the books in this series is that they don’t go on forever.

Final Thoughts: I loved this book and Joey and Aoife with all my heart.
