We’re back in the small town of Grimstone with another gothic romance, this time with significantly less spicy scenes but also more unabashed yearning. Although the story had a slow build, the suspense didn’t feel as mysterious as its interconnected standalone predecessor; I pegged the direction of the plot pretty early on. I also felt that the conclusion, if you will, for the antagonist was very anticlimactic. Overall, I did find myself enjoying the characters, their forbidden love connection, and appreciated the neurodiversity representation.
