Children of Fallen Gods by Carissa Broadbent

romantasy is back.

i'm lowkey confused reading some of the negative reviews for this book-- did we read the same thing? I was engaged the entire time and thought both storylines were super entertaining. aefe supremacy though, thats my girl!!! the reveal of how they were connected was the perfect amount of insane-- crazy but not out of pocket enough for me not to have speculated (i once again have receipts woooo).

i originally started this series because i saw it compared to throne of glass. after reading the first book, i would've said this was a bit of a reach. now, however, i think it makes more sense. i don't really think any series will get the exact vibes of throne of glass, but it doesn't have to! this series has its own merit and is not a cheap copy by any means. that being said, there were aspects that reminded me of TOG, and the prose and style of world building is comparable, so if you liked that series you would probably eat this up too. just make sure you get to at least the second book!

i felt like the writing in this book was way better than the first book, and the plot got so much more interesting and i was much more invested. i loved that the characters were given more depth (nura i'm looking at YOU) and i'm really excited to see where things go in the finale.

so glad that after, like, 4 months i got around to reading this book. i would've been missing out on so much!!
