wow. what a long fucking book! this was really informative and interesting and i loved reading it. honestly, i think a lot of the case studies were super unnecessary for the average reader (he really had a lot of them...) but i give it a pass since this is, in the end, academic and meant to be primarily anthropological. it's not meant for you to take his word for it, though-- just to make you think. he gave me a lot to think about and i'm thankful for it!
