The Prince is a thoroughly beguiling study of what it takes rule and stay in power written by beta male, Niccolo Machiavelli. Plenty practical and criminal things were discussed here from image management, forging alliances, land grabbing and genocide. Granted this book was written during the pre human rights era but the cutthroat-ness of everything was thoroughly unnerving. Maybe the idealist in me isn't ready to accept the truths in this book.
If anything can be taken away from The Prince is that ruling ain't for everybody and to be effective in that job, one has to sometimes unleash the beast.
