I quite liked the idea but it was slightly ruined by the fact that I knew it was fanfiction (my fault). Some of it was a bit cringey and I didn't particularly warm to the main character, but it was a fairly enjoyable read. The way it ended was just right and stopped the book drifting off into complete fantasy.
