Robicheaux by James Lee Burke

5.0

James Lee Burke writes of people and places with respect and authenticity. He captures the essence of a people and place without being superficial and using stereotypes. I like the way that he is able to capture language without making the character appear ignorant unless the character actually is ignorant. There are more often than not, times that I read his rich and insightful descriptions and then have to re-read because of the intelligence, depth and beauty involved. I am drawn to Dave and Clete because they are real, flawed humans and the stories do not always finish tied in a nice little package.
