Love, love, love. Everything I read of hers makes me feel lit up from within. You’ve never seen someone write so freely, with so much affection bleeding through every page. One night, after I was done reading for the day, I almost cried thinking about dead authors. Eve Babitz, Ursula K. Le Guin, Octavia Butler, authors with such tremendous love for the world around them that reading their work almost knocks you over with appreciation for life. How can they die with all that light inside them? Where does their love go?

Two days later, Mitski put out her new album and gave me her unsolicited answer with “My Love Mine All Mine” and I’ll take it! We are so lucky that our artists share their work, their love, with us. In the end, it’s theirs. Eve came into this world with her own, unique light. and she left with it. It is nothing but a privilege that we get to bask in it for 200 pages at a time.
