Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas

4.5

I am so glad I read this book. This one was for me in almo t every way. I loved the characters and the way their relationship grows. It isn't a rushed romance and the characters spend time getting to know and appreciate each other. Also, I have empathy for a person who wants to be candid and has problems identifying emotions. I found Tom's constant confusion over emotions and Cassandra's interest in a meaningful relationship of respect and admiration endearing.

Plus, Tom gives amazing book summaries.

The mathematics stuff was a little too corny, though.

The fact that Tom Severin first wants to marry Cassandra because she is beautiful definitely helped thwart the insta-love problem. As a book-loving,  mechanical engineer named Cassandra who is sometimes told she can lack some feeling, the way the lovers bond and get to know each other over a broken heater was delightful. I love that he read his first book and started to enjoy frivolities for Cassandra. There's nothing sexier than a man who listens to women. I was also really excited that Cassandra got to list a bunch of interests she has besides books. The contract scene was perfect and a delightful way to build the relationship given the confines of a romance novel.
