Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin

5.0

I love Gilda. The story was tremendously sad and funny and poignant and just generally an excellent story. I was crying and laughing (sometimes simultaneously) and I was genuinely rooting so hard for our narrator. This wasn’t an easy read in terms of its content, but it was still a story I flew through in one sitting. Each character felt so real and multi-dimensional despite all of them only being brief side characters—and Rosemary was barely more than an email and I felt like I really got to know her. I can’t really put how I feel about this into words, but I loved it and found it tremendously moving. Gilda was imperfectly perfect and I loved watching her stumble and grow.
