Murder at the Serpentine Bridge by Andrea Penrose

3.0

I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

I enjoy this series on the whole, with its good mysteries and wide cast of characters with interesting relationships, but there are times when the emotions feel just... disconnected. This is especially the case in this book. The main characters are recently married, and the whole motley family is settling into new situations because of it. But other than a few asides that make sure to tell you this rather than showing it, you wouldn't know. It just feels off.

The mystery is also interesting, but it's not well-paced. The first half feels extremely slow and full of filler, while the climax seems rushed. There are also a few too many conveniently overheard conversations for me to believe.

It's not bad; it just feels slightly off. Not the best entry in the series.
