The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant

5.0

An easy book to read, very enjoyable. It’s an interview carried out from a granddaughter to her grandmother, Addie- aka ‘ the Boston girl’.
It was surreal when reading the chapter detailing her experiences with the Spanish flu. Narrating how many in the community wouldn’t abide by curfew nor quarantines is Déja Vú. History repeats itself, many societies have the same feelings, people not abiding governments rules and regulation and many thinking that the current pandemic, COVID, is purely a conspiracy.
This book shares memories of love, laughter, tears, resilience, gender oppression, family dynamics, feminism and social injustice.
Highly recommendable!
