Abby Jimenez is always very hit-or-miss for me. The way this one opened, with the three immediate yet separate mentions of the MMC looking like Rhysand from ACOTAR plus a touch of choppy writing- I’m like, mehhh this is going to be a miss. Which figures-all my misses are the first of a duo and this is labeled as the first in a series. But wow was I so wrong. I had not read a description, just jumped right in. So that twist after date 1 was a complete shock.

The change in a basic rom-com to a far more complex story about making memories, living parallel lives, memory loss, and parental connections-the good parent not remembering and the abusive ones and their selective memories. All of it, every side story, everything beautifully tying together with this theme of the importance of making memories, creating core memories, and how memories affect familial and romantic love relationships. It was absolutely beautiful. I bawled. I laughed. My husband thought I was crazy so then I subjected him to an in-depth description. Even he gasped at the part about Hank! Cannot recommend this book enough.
