The Lying Life of Adults
by Elena Ferrante
I was expecting something new from ferrante but I got what it felt like a worse and underdeveloped version of my brilliant friend.
it's all here: the dysfunctional family, toxic friendships, and turmoil of growing up. I felt this novel had too many things going on and none were quite resolved to a conclusion or even a point. it just seemed underdeveloped. the beautiful coarseness that ferrante writes with is still very much present and well done in this book but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with it.
it's not bad, but I wanted more.
