I only gave four stars because it took three tries and two years to get past the first three chapters. However, like the Harry Potter series, it was worth the third attempt. Kingsolver's imagery allows the reader to feel right along side of her as she struggles and plays with living almost entirely off of the fruits of her land and not grocery stores for a year.
