This book blends fantastical magic with real world issues. All of the characters are complex and flawed, but easy to cheer for. Some elements of witches interacting with mundanes felt a little too simple and unbelievable. That being said, the dynamics among women, the debates between tradition and progress, and the struggles between fate and free will were compelling and engaging. I will definitely continue to read this series, and I am excited to see where these characters' stories go next.
