Got recommended this book as I’m interested in the topic of the evolution of humanity and society, but was very annoyed with the writing style from the start. It has some good thoughts that were maybe prescient for the time, but reads in a very circular, repetitive, and self-important way that takes forever to get to a point (that is not as profound as it makes itself out to be) and then repeats that same point in as many ways as it can. I wanted to finish it because it’s become sort of a classic, but after reading other reviews I realized I wasn’t going to get anything else out of it that I didn’t get from the first half of the book.
