Took a long time to read this one. Had to read it in sections and gave time in between to “digest” what was happening to the characters. In between the sad/traumatic scenes are glimpses of beautiful descriptions of friendship, love, and resilience. Those happy moments are what kept me reading. I thought things would get better in the end…
