DNF at 73 pages.

While I was excited at the prospect of anxiety / depression rep in a Ya romance book, I wasn’t impressed with the quality of this one. Eloise is kind of a horrible person and it’s like she blames her anxiety for everything? Okay, I understand that’s part of what anxiety is: feeling like you aren’t worth the effort. I also didn’t like that she just decided not to continue with therapy because of a few “failed” sessions. 😑

But what’s worse is Austin. This perfect cherry golden retriever who decides to call Eloise “Lou” even though she asked to be called by her full name. And continues to do so CONSTANTLY- he’s always like “blah blah blah, Lou” and “yes Lou, blah blah.” And “Lou, blah blah.” I couldn’t take it because that is NOT what she asked you to call her???? Just because you’re so friendly doesn’t mean you can IGNORE what she asked????? I’m sorry- that’s rude as hell!!!!!!

And this whole “I need community service hours and they’re letting me just talk to ONE person for my hours instead of doing the actual job I’m supposed to do”??? Nah. This doesn’t feel like actual community service at all.

All in all, I can’t take this book anymore. I’m out.
