The Nice House on the Lake Vol. 1
by James Tynion IV
The art is arresting and full of little details that pulled me into the panels, which is both a blessing and a curse because there is so much text that I found myself just looking at the pretty pictures instead of reading.
There is so much text. So much. Speech bubble after speech bubble of super long discussions that I'm not used to seeing in graphic novels but are needed with how complex this story is. You need all the information you're given and there's really no way to express all of it visually.
But my main gripe is the panel progression because it's almost impossible to know when panels stay on one page or go across the spread. There are times when one format does not follow the same pattern the next time it comes around. I hate when that happens and it happened way too many times here.
All said, I'm hooked and need to know what happens next.
