The Mothers by Brit Bennett

5.0

Type of read: Commuter read.

What made me pick it up: A suggested read based on previous library loans.

Overall rating: "Finding peace in the unraveling."

Poetic and lyrical, 'The Mothers' is a beautifully heartbreaking story of finding yourself amid the decisions and choices you make...for better or worse. This book hurt my heart in the most wonderful way. I loved the multiple perspectives and weaving storyline. The honesty and hurt that comes out of these pages is gutwrenching. I would absolutely recommend 'The Mothers' and I'll be on the lookout for any future works of Bennett.

Readers Note: 'The Mothers' features storylines that include suicide, sex, sexual assault, and abortion.
