Coming Up Roses by Staci Hart

3.0

Oh Luke, you were so precious (sometimes stupid but I forgive you!) and commanded the room around you in a way that made me smile. I have to agree with some reviews, you are book boyfriend material.

Tess is working at a flower shop - but not just any kind. She put her work on a high standard at Longbourne Flower Shop and it definitely didn't go unnoticed, but wasn't enough. When the family-owned shop gets into trouble, everybody tries to help out- including her old crush, whom she haven't seen in a while. So naturally, to save her heart she lets herself to achieve anything in order to keep her sanity and heart unshattered. She and Luke Bennet (with his easygoing demeanor and handsome self) kind of get into an enemies territory. But of course, in the end, love conquers it all...

The book was an Austen retelling, in the series you have a chance to meet the other characters based on Austen's work. It was refreshing, altough I struggled with Luke's past relationship trope and the drama it ensured. The romance was adoring, sometimes outright sexy and the keeping it hush-hush part caused at times hilarity.

I adored Tess and her father's relationship, the way they cared so much about one other and the resolve the book's story brought to them.

Overall I gave the book around 3 and a half stars.
