The Piano Tuner by Daniel Mason

1.0

I tried. I really tried. I'm 2/3 through and, frankly, I just am so bored I cannot finish it. People have raved about its delving into Burmese history during the Raj. I found it tedious and uninteresting. the only ray of sunshine was in the first 20 or so pages when I recognized that the author was writing a conversation in fugue (which was defined for us early on). I thought, wow, this is great. Well, that wasn't enough to hold me, even though I recognized the technique used once again in the next 200 pages. I'm loathe to leave a book I have invested so much effort into reading, but, like other reviewers, whatever the end might be, it's not enough to interest me in continuing.
