Tempest Runner by Cavan Scott

5.0

When I say that Cavan Scott DELIVERED! I mean he gave us High Republic fangirls and fanboys alike a provocative look at THE Lourna Dee. How does someone become that cold and cynical? What leads someone down that path? Tempest Runner reveals this through its non linear storytelling, making it quick and engaging, as well as entirely relevant to the time period it is set in. Whilst following Lourna Dee and her escapades through getting caught by the Republic, as well as flashbacks to her childhood, we can finally understand how Lourna Dee can gaslight, gatekeep, and girl boss so easily. In this story of self-actualization, Lourna Dee captured my heart, even if it meant she would've definitely put a blaster to me. And of course, I have to mention the amazing production of this audiobook. Fair warning for those who are reading without the script, in the beginning, the characters voices are a bit hard to discern but keep chugging along because those people either don't matter or you end up figuring out who is who. At the end, you're left with a masterpiece that helps explain more of the behind the scenes of the Nihil and expand the universe as a whole. Lourna Dee! Lourna Dee!
