I adore Shades of Magic, but it took me a little while to get into this book. At first I was like “just tell me what Kell & Lila are up to!!” Once I did I very much enjoyed the expanding of the lore and our new character Tes. Interestingly, I  found myself not enjoying Lila so much due to her brutality, and she was previously my favorite character. 

As a disabled person, I do kinda wish
that Kell just had to learn to live with his condition, but at least it seems like he isn’t 100% miraculously healed.
 

This book was a lot of setup for what’s coming next, so I hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next one!
