Frank Lundquist screwed up; he was a child psychologist in New York and he misread one of his clients who killed his little sister. Now Frank works in a women's prison, trying to reclaim his life after his wife divorced him. When Miranda Greene walks into his office, Frank is overwhelmed: here was his childhood crush, sitting right in front of him. Miranda was involved in a robbery that ended up in homicide and now she is in prison; Frank wants to help her, but can he? As the book slowly reveals, there is a lot of twisting psychological game-playing taking place. The writing is adequate, but the plot is quite baroque and no one wins in the end.
