Carry on by Rainbow Rowell

4.0

Well, this one was a surprising read. Carry On was a story I never thought I'd enjoy.

It was not my cup of tea at all because it seemed like this was too much fanfiction (I initially thought it was) and those things just aren’t my thing. It was one of those books that I wasn't really excited to read. And to be completely honest, I never would've read this if my friend didn't give this to me. When I started this book, I wasn't really expecting much. But then, a few pages in and I found myself enjoying it. I think what really pulled me into the story was the fantasy and the mystery. (Lucy's chapters, the first ones particularly, we're very mysterious and it kept me guessing who the hell she was, who she's talking to etc.) It was not mainly focused on the romance, which I'm very happy about. But I did really love the love story that developed between Simon and Baz (!!!).

All in all, Carry On was a great book. I enjoyed it. I love the relationship among all the characters (especially Simon, Baz, and Penny) and how they were all connected. And I love reading about Lucy and Davy's story. It was such an interesting side-story. And although the plot twists were kinda predictable (halfway through the book I was already sure who the real villain was), I still really liked this book!

A great start to 2016!
