Nova is a free spirit that loves to travel the US and never be tied down, while painting, writing freelance and documenting her travels for her million Instagram followers. She uses NYC as home based and only comes back to see her best friends in between trips. When Rae films her dancing on a live stream with a member of one of her favorite bands, it reopens a door to a past she thought she had left behind. When Parker realizes his ex step sister/ best friend/ love of his life is the one he is watching break it down on his live stream, he reaches out and this time refuses to let Nova slip through his fingers and run away again.

Honestly, this book was a lot of tropes I tend to not be as interested in, but I loved the first book in this series and would read anything Fiona Cole puts out, so I gave it a try. I am SO glad I did, because I loved this. I spent the whole day in my backyard reading.

Parker and Nova have had nothing but hurtles and miscommunications in their way to be together. The tension between them and the build up was A+ and gave me all the butterflies. This book moved between the past and present of Nova and Parker meeting, building their friendship, the big thing that tore them apart and then their story of coming back together. There is angst and pining, while quiet and free spirited Nova deals with past trauma and Parker deals with a heavy dose of guilt and longing, but it is so obvious that these two were meant to be from the beginning. This is a slow burn, and Parker is a bit of a dirty talker that helps quiet Nova open up and explore her freakier side.

The secondary characters added so much to the story. Obviously Rae and Vera are back, and I loved the addition to the boys in the band. Could definitely see future books being set up for them, so fingers crossed those are in the works, and I can’t wait to read Rae and Austin’s story!
