What an emotional, beautiful book. Part family drama, part historical fiction and part mystery, the themes are so powerful - it’s about family, identity, connection, forgiveness, race, class, grief, loss and so much more. I loved learning about Mi’kmaq culture and history. While a heavy read, it’s ultimately a hopeful story and one I think everyone would love. I’ve been picky about doling out 5 star ratings lately, but this one was well deserved.
