From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
by E.L. Konigsburg
When Claudia decides her family doesn't appreciate her as much as they should, she picks one of her younger brothers, Jamie, to run away with her. But they're not just running away; they're running to somewhere--The Metropolitan Museum of Art. While living at the museum, they come across a mysterious sculpture of an angel, which is somehow connected to Mrs. Frankweiler, that is attracting even larger crowds than normal. And what's the reason? It may or may not be a lost sculpture of Michelangelo. Claudia and Jamie, charged with a new kind of energy and purpose, set out to discover the angel's secrets in a way that only two kids living at the museum can.
This is one of my absolute favorite books! I'm the cool kid who listens to it on her iPod when she runs. I love that Konigsburg generally speaks in Mrs. Frankwiler's voice. Her thoughts bring the story together. I also love Mrs. Frankwiler's sense of humor. It's a classic and is wonderful for all ages.
